Todd Rosenlieb began his professional career in 1992 when Erick Hawkins selected him from a technique class to join his company in New York City. Named Company Director in the fall of 1995, Mr. Rosenlieb has staged Hawkins repertory around the country, including the last piece of Hawkins’ choreography, Journey of a Poet. During this time he coached Mikhail Baryshnikov in the lead role and danced with The White Oak Project at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for its premiere.

He enjoyed a five-year tenure as principal dancer, choreographer, and artistic advisor with Virginia Ballet Theatre, and has danced with Second Wind Dance Company. He has taught and staged choreography throughout the United States including Jacob’s Pillow and the American Dance Festival.

His original choreography has been performed at both the National and Regional High School Dance Festivals, at Montclair State University, Virginia School of the Arts, Old Dominion University, University of Nevada, Sarah Lawrence College, and New York University, among others. He earned his BA degree from Bucknell University in English and Economics and his MFA degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

His most recent work includes filming a dance video with Annie Lenox and Twyla Tharp; choreographing for Petula Clark and the Virginia Arts Festival; and staging the daunting music of I Never Saw Another Butterfly with the Virginia Children’s Chorus during the nationally acclaimed Virginia Arts Festival.

He is a certified Pilates instructor and has been on the faculty of The Governor’s School for the Arts for the past 6 years. Todd recently created new works for Virginia Ballet Theatre, Ballet de San Juan in Puerto Rico, the University of Richmond, and the Nashville Ballet. In May of 2003 he performed in a revival of the work of Erick Hawkins in New York City.
