Todd Rosenlieb began his professional career in 1992 when Erick Hawkins selected him from a technique class to join his company in New York City. Named Company Director in the fall of 1995, Mr. Rosenlieb has staged Hawkins repertory around the country, including the last piece of Hawkins’ choreography, Journey of a Poet. During this time he coached Mikhail Baryshnikov in the lead role and danced with The White Oak Project at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for its premiere. He has created original choreography for the Richmond Ballet, the Nashville Ballet, Ballet de San Juan, Virgina Ballet Theatre, the Virginia Symphony and the Indianapolis Symphony, as well as for the National and Regional High School Dance Festivals, at Montclair State University, Virginia School of the Arts, Old Dominion University, University of Nevada, Sarah Lawrence College, New York University, James Madison University, Goucher College, University of Richmond, among others. In 2009, together with Carol Thomas Downing, Todd created an original story & choreography for The Gift of the Magi with music by Adolphus Hailstork, and in 2010 he choreographed a triumphant Bernstein's Mass under the direction of Pam Berlin. Todd is considered the area's most prolific choreographer and collaborator. Todd's other work includes creating a series of dances based on the artwork of Goya and for the Art of Glass exhibits at the Chrysler Museum, staging for the Imani Quintet, choreographing for the new opera Pocohantas presented by the nationally acclaimed Virginia Arts Festival, filming a music video with Annie Lenox and Twyla Tharp, choreographing for Petula Clark, and staging the daunting music of I Never Saw Another Butterfly with the Virginia Children’s Chorus. He earned his BA degree from Bucknell University in English and Economics and his MFA degree in Performance and Choreography from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He is a certified Pilates instructor and is Chair of the Dance Department of the The Governor’s School for the Arts. He is director of The TRDance Center and is on faculty of Tidewater Community College.
