Celebrating a Decade of Dance:

Todd Rosenlieb Dance Kicks Off 10th Anniversary Season

NORFOLK, VA –   Hampton Roads’ only professional dance company, Todd Rosenlieb Dance, celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a dance concert on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14.  The 7 pm performances will be at the Roper Theater at 340 Granby Street in Norfolk.  The Saturday concert will be followed by a 10th Anniversary Gala Party at Work/Release at 759 Granby Street.

The concert spotlights past favorites and new material, including the world premiere of Artistic Director Todd Rosenlieb’s tribute to Frank Sinatra.  Ticket information for the event is as follows: General Admission – $27.00, Military & Senior – $22.00, Students – $17, TCC Students – $10 with ID, and GSA students -$5 with ID at the door only.  The Box Office opens one hour prior to event time and Advance Tickets are available online at tccropercenter.org.  Tickets to the 10th Anniversary Gala Party include a concert ticket.  For information about tickets to the Gala Party, please contact the TRDance Center at 757-626-3262.

The 10th anniversary season opener is a powerhouse modern dance concert including Erick Hawkins’ 1989 classic “New Moon.”  This lush modern work features an original score by Lou Harrison and set by Ralph Dorazio.  Also on the program is the world premiere “To Be Frank” by Artistic Director Todd Rosenlieb, celebrating Frank Sinatra’s 100th Birthday.  Set to some of Sinatra’s most iconic works, this piece captures the energy of the Rat Pack with humor, musicality, and daredevil physicality. The concert also will include a collection of excerpts from dances over the last 10 years.

The 10th Anniversary season, which has been dubbed “TODD x 10,” will include performances in Hampton Roads and North Carolina, highlighted by collaborations with local arts organizations, musicians and designers.  “We’re proud and excited to celebrate a decade of high quality, cutting edge dance performances, top-notch dance education and community building through movement,” says Rosenlieb. “At TRDance, we believe that without movement, there is not life and that without dance, there is no community.”

Established in 2005, Todd Rosenlieb Dance has successfully pursued artistic excellence, community building, arts partnerships, and economic impact throughout Hampton Roads.  A decade of achievements includes unique and varied artistic endeavors from theatrical spectacles such as “Bernstein’s Mass” to an evening of dance with the Indianapolis Symphony, from original productions of “The Gift of the Magi” and the opera “Pocahontas,” to educational programs with the nationally acclaimed Imani Winds.

The TRDance Center houses two professional dance companies, Todd Rosenlieb Dance and Virginia Ballet Theatre, as well as an Academy with over 300 registered students.  The Center and its partnerships reach over 5,000 children yearly.  The Center’s state-of-the-art Benjack Studio Theatre has housed over 300 performances by local arts organizations and provides an affordable venue for the region’s performing groups.
