Structured Training

The STRUCTURED Training Program offers introduction to dance for students ages 1½-6 and comprehensive training for students ages 6-15 to progress through the various levels of study. Students are placed in levels according to age as well as prior training and experience. Consistency is the key to progressing in dance technique and the structured method provides the greatest opportunity for advancement.  The program runs from September through May and for 10 weeks in the summer. Rates are based on the number of classes taken per week. The staff at TRDance may recommend a specific number of classes to take for optimum progression.

Introduction To Dance

Learn the basics of dance!

Dress Code:  Solid color leotard, tights, ballet shoes.  Hair should be secured away from the face so it is not a distraction.

Parent & Me – Ages 1½-3 with parent

  • Tuesday – 11:00-11:30am - Lewis

Creative Movement – Ages 3-4

  • Monday- 5:00-5:30pm – Thomas

Fundamentals – Ages 4-6

  • Saturday – 9:00-9:45am – Thomas

Ballet Classes

Students are placed in levels according to age as well as prior training and experience. Most students take each level for 2 years.

Ballet 1
For ages 6-8, first year of ballet.

  • Saturday – 11:00am-12:00pm – Hauser

Ballet 2
For ages 8-10, continuing ballet education often taken for 2 years.

  • Tuesday – 5:15-6:15pm – Simpson

Ballet 3
For ages 8-13, minimum 2 years prior training.

  • Tuesday – 5:45-7:00pm – Gage
  • Saturday – 11:00am-12:15pm – Denning

Ballet 4
For ages 10-14, minimum 4 years prior training.
Strongly encouraged to take twice a week at this level.

  • Monday – 5:30-7:00pm – Pociluyko
  • Wednesday – 6:15-7:45pm – Clayton

Ballet 5
For ages 11-15, minimum 5 years prior training.
Strongly encouraged to take twice a week at this level.

Dress Code for Summer Structured Classes
Hair should be secured away from the face for all classes and in a bun for ballet class.
Ballet: Solid color leotard, pink tights, & pink ballet shoes
Modern: Solid color leotard, footless tights, & bare feet
Jazz: Solid color leotard, pink or black tights, leggings, or jazz pants, & jazz shoes
Hip-Hop: Solid color leotard, shorts, leggings, or jazz pants, & sneakers
Boys: Fitted solid T-shirt, dance belt, black tights, black ballet shoes or white ballet shoes with white socks

PAYMENT INFORMATION & POLICIES

The Summer 2019 Session begins June 17, 2019

  • ♦ Tuition for the STRUCTURED program is for the Summer Session and is non-refundable. Medical withdrawal in the event of long-term illness or injury may be considered. A doctor’s verification must accompany a written withdrawal letter. For families who have pre-paid the entire year, and  upon receipt of the documentation above, a partial refund or credit will be considered. For families on one of the installment plans (Academic Year only), we require the above documentation 30 days in advance of the next installment in order to suspend or terminate your automatic withdrawal. The above policy also applies to military families who will be moving out of the Coastal Virginia area during the year.
  • ♦ Classes with fewer than 3 students will be cancelled or merged.
  • ♦ New students will be assessed a $35 Lifetime Registration Fee upon Registration. A Trial or Placement class may be taken prior to registration for $20. If the student enrolls after a Trial or Placement class, that class will be credited toward their tuition for the year.
  • ♦ In the event of illness or closings, you may make up a missed class in another class of the same level or lower. Please contact the office to arrange for make ups.
  • ♦ Parking is available at MacArthur Center, Freemason Street Garage, and metered street parking.
  • ♦ We ask that all students check in at the front desk.
  • ♦ There will be a $25 fee on all returned checks. Declined credit cards for auto withdrawal will be charged $10.00. It is your responsibility to inform our office of expired or new cards in order not to be assessed additional fees.
  • ♦ All Installment Plans (Academic Year only) are processed by automatic withdrawal only. An Authorization Form must be on file for all Installment Plans.  We accept credit or debit cards for these payments.
  • ♦ TRDance Center accepts the following forms of payment: VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Cash, Checks and Money Orders.
