TRDance is proud to announce Mr. Morgan White has been selected as the new Academy Director for TRDance!
Originally from Lynchburg in Central Virginia but a self-claimed Hampton Roads native — Morgan has already been teaching Ballet and Jazz at TRDance for several years and is currently a principal company member for Todd Rosenlieb Dance and Virginia Ballet Theatre.
Executive Director, Christopher Reybrouck, noted, “Our new Academy Director, Morgan White, will be an asset to our younger students and families being a life-long dancer and help to bridge all of our Academy programs together to create a strong sense of community within our growing dance and art center right here in Downtown Norfolk”.
After graduating from Christopher Newport University with a degree in theatre performance and a minor in dance, Morgan joined TRDance as company member from 2007-2009, then made the move to New York City to pursue a performance career in theatre and dance. After returning to Norfolk in 2018, Morgan began teaching for schools around the area including the Governor's School for the Arts (Musical Theatre, Dance, and Vocal Music departments), the TRDance Academy, BellA Dance Academy, and Quality Music and Dance School.
“Morgan has been an exemplary instructor and dancer at TRDance for years and has excelled as a choreographer, mentor, and inspiration for youth who are looking to excel at arts education, specifically contemporary forms of dance.” says Todd Rosenlieb, Artistic Director of TRDance.
Morgan's Regional theatre highlights include three productions of West Side Story (at Ogunquit Playhouse, FL; Signature Theatre, VA; Ogunquit Playhouse, ME), Carousel (Olney Theatre Center, MD), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Maine State Music Theatre, ME); Swing! (Gateway Playhouse, NY); A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Bay Street Theatre, NY) Billy Elliot (Ocean State Theatre, RI), among others. New York City credits include performances at Theatre Row, BC Beat, Broadway Bares, The Actor's Fund Theatre, The Secret Theatre, The Love Show, Le Poisson Rouge, House of Yes, Hammerstein Ballroom, Radio City Music Hall, and Roseland Ballroom.
Summer classes run at TRDance from June 20-August 27 and will feature summer camps for ages 6-9 and 9-13, two dance intensives in both Ballet and Modern for intermediate/advanced dancers ages 14+ as well as 50+ classes a week for ages 3-14, and morning and evening classes for adults.
